The Recovery Act at Work

How Can I Find Grant Opportunities?

In responding to the recovery and reinvestment act, government agencies with grant making responsibilities are making it easier to find grant opportunities created by the Recovery Act.  These opportunities are available to a wide variety of individuals and organizations.  State, County, and City governments are eligible for many grants as well as non-profit and for profit organizations.  Each grant outlines the requirements as well as who is eligible to apply.  The estimated total awards as well the estimated total funding are both disclosed.  Each grant has a closing date before which the application must be complete and submitted.  All changes to the grant synopsis are noted and described.

To view currently available grant opportunities for individuals and public organizations vistit grants.gov  and click grant opportunities.

  1. Excuse me, but didn’t funding for the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act EXPIRE September 31, 2010? If not, why are 5 of my major projects being de-scoped due to cost over-runs (change orders dealing with unforeseen site conditions?)

  2. What type of funding were you receiving and through what agency?

  3. My agency is the US Department of Interior / Bureau of Indian Affairs. Our American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) funding was in the form of Acquisitions (Procurements), not Assistance (Grants). Nevertheless, the way ARRA was drafted and promulgated, funding ceased, by law, as I and many others have been lead to believe, September 31, 2010. If this is indeed not the case and the Act was at some point revised in order to allow Assistance to continue beyond FYE2010, a link to the Statute (or Promulgating Authority) would be greatly appreciated.

The seriousness of the implications you present cannot be underestimated.

  4. Grants.gov lists many federal grant opportunities but the Department of the Interior does not have any current listings. Im not sure that the ARRA has been revised to allow Assistance to continue, but there are however Grants posted with a closing date in 2011. For example:

Assisted Housing Stability and Energy and Green Retrofit

Im not sure that the type of funding you mention would be listed on Grants.gov. Have you visited Recovery.gov?

Please note that I am not stating the ARRA has been revised or that Assistance has been continued and that ObamaStimulus.com is not a government website.

  5. Yeah, I’ve pretty much caught on to the fact that you’re not “official,” not “aligned,” nor “affiliated with”.
